Expert Committee of CNC-FE working Group on “Disaster Early Warning in the Context of Global Environmental Change” established

Supported by China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and Chinese National Committee for Future Earth (CNC-FE), Expert Committee of CNC-FE working Group on “Disaster Early Warning in the Context of Global Environmental Change” (CNC-FE DEW Group) was established in Beijing on July 28th2015. Prof. SHI Peijun and Prof. YE Qian were recommended as committee members.

The inauguration meeting was hosted by Prof. SHI Peijun. Members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, other Chinfese universities and state departments attended the meeting. On behalf of Chairman QIN Dahe and the Secretary-General of CNC-FE, Prof. Zhou Tianjun also took part in the meeting.

Communication between experts from china and foreign countries

Prof. SHI Peijun reported the formation, structure and plans for the establishment of the working group to the Committee. Prof. Zhou Tianjun introduced the writing program of the Strategic Report of Future Earth in China completely, and put forward requirements of the relevant works. A warm discussion was carried out by the members, focusing on the target and task of the research area of the working group, and they put forward proposals on the development of the 2015-2017 expert committee working plan.

The committee was invited to hold an informal seminar with Co-chair of IRG Project Prof. Carlo Jaeger, SC member of IRG Project Prof. Sander van der Leeuw, Chairman of the International Scientific Committee of the Risk Prevention Council, Prof. Ortwin Renn.

A consensus was reached between Chinese and foreign experts on strengthening exchanges between the Chinese scientific community and the IRG project and some specific issues on the seminar of the Future Earth plan core projects held in 2016.
