Recently, we got a written notice from Thomson Reuters ISI, confirmed that the English academic journal– “International Journal of Disaster Risk Science”, co-edited by Prof. SHI Peijun and Prof. Carlo Jaeger, was received by SCI-E, JCR/Science Edition and Current Contents/Physical Chemical and Earth Sciences at the same time. All the papers go back to the first issue of 2010 was indexed.
International Journal of Disaster Risk Science becomes the first Chinese journal received by SCI-E in the field of disaster risk, and provides a higher platform for the development of China’s disaster risk science research and international exchange.
International Journal of Disaster Risk Science was first issued in September 2010. It is an Academic English quarterly co-sponsored by Beijing Normal University and the Ministry of Civil Affairs National Disaster Reduction Center of China, and hosted by Academy of Disaster Reduction and Emergency Management and State Key Laboratory of Earth Surface Processes and Resource Ecology. The journal mainly publishes high-quality original papers and review articles related to disaster risk theory, methods, techniques and management and so on. Since cooperation with Springer in 2011, an open-access model was adopted to publish the electronic version of the journal jointly, and to provide worldwide access to the full-text (www.springer.com/13753) through online full text database SpringerLink. At present, foreign editors of IJDRS account for more than 60% of the total number of editors. The press of foreign authors accounts for 90% of the total amount of press. Readers of the journal spread across more than 30 countries and regions. 90% of the reviewers are internationally well-known experts in the field.
It just cost a short period of two months for the journals from the submission of application to the receive by Thomson Reuters ISI, which is extremely rare in the history of Chinese science and technology journals. Thanks to the concept of running the journal that initial publication must adhere to the internationalization, the journal can quickly pass the ISI assessment. As the publishing platform for the achievements of IRG Project / Future Earth, International Journal of Disaster Risk Science attracts a large number of scientists around the world to submit their research articles to the journal, including many top international scientists.
The journal received financial support from the “985 Project” of Beijing Normal University and the China Association for Science and Technology – “International impact promotion project for China scientific and technological journals”, which support the operation of this journal at a high level of internationalization. Dr. LI Ying, director of the editorial department of the journal, Editor, Dr. DU Juan and Dr. HU Tinglan made a significant contribution to this process.
