“Write-shop Integrated Risk Assessment on One Belt One Road Initiative: Opportunities and Challenges for Participating Countries and Regions” was successfuly held in Hong Kong, October 15th-17th, 2016. This write-shop was organized by IRG Project, supported by Future Earth, Beijing Normal University (BNU), and Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU).
Participants of this write-shop included the following representatives of IRG Project, co-chair Prof. SHI Peijun, Executive Director Prof. YE Qian, Executive Director Assistant Dr.CHEN Jing, and SSC members, Prof. Diana Mangalagiu from Oxford University, Prof. Ilan Chabay from Institute of Advanced Sustainability Studies, Dr. Ilan Kelman from University College London, Prof. Michael Glantz from University of Colorado. Prof. Gretchen Kalonji from Sichuan Univerisy, Dr. Timothy SIM, Dr. Laura LO, Dr. Justina YUNG from PolyU, were also invited to join the write-shop. On this write-shop, participants discussed risks and possible opportunities of One Belt One Road Initiative, and put forward a basic framework for joint research on education and capacity building of One Belt One Road Initiative.
During the write-shop, Prof. Angelina Yuen, vice president of PolyU, met some of the participants in a working lunch.On behalf of Prof. SHI Peijun, Prof. YE Qian thanked the great support from PolyU for this write-shop. This write-shop was a concrete achievement of the implementation of the cooperation MOU between BNU and PolyU, and a trial for PolyU’s role as Southeast Asia center of IRG Project. With additional participation of Institue for Disaster Management and Reconstruction (IDMR), Sichuan University – Hong Kong Polytechnic University, BNU and PolyU may further promote an international alliance on disaster risk governance and social construction. Prof. Angelina Yuen and Prof. YE Qian also discussed issues on facuty exchange and regular workshops or meetings between BNU and PolyU.
