Research Project on the Socio-technical Analysis of Energy Transitions. The goal is to develop a systems analytic framework for identifying the drivers of energy transitions and to asses the consequences of governmental interventions into the energy systems. The research is based on an inter- and transdisciplinary approach and includes technical, natural, social and economic sciences as well as the humanities. The total amount of research funds is approximately 100 Mio Euros for 10 years.

Ortwin RENN

Ortwin Renn directs the International Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) in Potsdam (Germany) since February 2016. He continues to serve as acting chair of the Stuttgart Research Center for Interdisciplinary Risk and Innovation Studies at the University of Stuttgart (ZIRIUS) and as scientific director of the non-profit company DIALOGIK, a research institute for the investigation of communication and participation processes. Renn is Adjunct Professor for “Integrated Risk Analysis” at Stavanger University (Norway) and Affiliate Professor for “Risk Governance” at Beijing Normal University.
